I have a pastor friend who prepared himself for many years to pursue his Ph. D. degree in theology. He and his family made all kinds of sacrifices in order for him to start his studies. He and his wife moved with their two young children to one of the seminaries in New Orleans. All their belongings arrived to New Orleans just two days before Katrina hit. They were evacuated but they lost everything. Was he too being punished because of the gay parade that was scheduled to take place?

I don't believe that our God is that small or that his true intention can be interpreted that simply. As a Christian my heart went out to those victims of Katrina and I was saddened that you made an association between this tragedy and God's punishment. I believe that it's time to grieve over the loss of life and not the time to accuse and condemn the survivors of this disaster. Condemnation and accusation are not the way to the cross.
